Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it. ~Ferris Bueller’s Day Off~

That line from the popular 80’s movie Ferris Bueller’s Day Off may have been funny at the time, but it really holds a lot of truth. The world seems to move so fast between work, family and other obligations, that we forget to just stop for a moment. However, it is vital to carve out some “me time” each day no matter how crazy life gets. It’s so important to your health and well-being. Here are five ways to help you relieve daily stress and find some balance in your life.

1) Soaking Bath

Adding a soaking bath once or twice a week is a great way to melt away stress and even a way to detox the body. Add Epsom salt and or dead sea salt to your warm bath water. The Dead Sea is the worlds largest bath of detoxifying minerals such as magnesium, potassium and calcium.Dead Sea Salt helps to expel toxins through the skin.It is also known to help with skin conditions, improve circulation and help relieve muscle aches and pains.Add to 1 to 2 cups to your running bath and soak for 20 to 30 minutes. Some soft music and candles will help you to relax even more. Afterwards, climb into bed under a warm blanket and be sure to drink lots of water or herbal teas to help flush out the toxins. 2) Yoga

Yoga continues to gain popularity as a way to relieve stress and add exercise into your daily routine. Besides helping to ease stress and anxiety, yoga also helps promote better sleep, increase strength, can help reduce inflammation and pain in the body as well as protect the spine and bones. There are many levels of yoga making it perfect for all ages. Our friends at Freedom Genesis offer the latest information and knowledge on yoga and wellness. Take a look at all they have to offer.

3) Walk in Nature

Nature is God’s way of helping us relieve stress. There is nothing more wonderful than a beautiful walk in nature, looking up at the vast blue sky, hearing the birds chirping and walking among stately trees and greenery. Or if you are lucky enough to live near the mountains or the ocean a beautiful hike or strollin the sand listening to roaring waves can work wonders for our mental and emotional states. We are surrounded by so much natural beauty but we often get so caught up in our busy lives that we forget to stop and take a look every once in a while.

4) Meditation

Many people get confused when they hear meditation. They think it’s some difficult type of mind training.  While it can take a bit of practice, it’s something that can be done easier than one might think. Meditation is not trying to concentrate on a specific thing, it’s basically clearing mind of everything. With so much going on our busy lives, sometimes not thinking about anything can seem daunting and nearly impossible. But finding a very quiet spot for even just ten minutes is all you really need. The benefits of mediation are many such as calming the mind, eliminating anxiety, promoting happiness as well as better concentration and focus. It’s definitely something worth looking into. Here are ideas for where you can start your meditation journey.

5) Proper Sleep

Getting enough sleep is more important than many people realize. Lack of sleep can make you moody and cranky the next day, but when it occurs on a regular basis it effects a lot more. It can have ill effects on your blood pressure, blood sugar levels and concentration levels. When you get the proper hours of sleep it helps promote a better mood which allows you to deal with stress better, healthier blood pressure levels and heart health, improves attention span and memory as well as promotes longevity. So be sure to get those zzzzz’s every night!

I hope you make time for yourself in the new year and apply some of these suggestions. Love yourself first and you’ll be able to better love others.
